Reyer Venezia, Jordan Parks’ return is an'unknown
Sunday night’s success against Napoli was worth the lone third place in the standings, however, has left a negative aftermath for Reyer Venezia, which will have to do without one of its most representative players, Jordan Parks, in the upcoming games. The American, who came out battered from the Taliercio game in which he scored 9 points and 7 rebounds in 20 minutes of play, has in fact suffered a muscle injury that will keep him out for an indefinite period. The Orogranata medical staff will re-evaluate Parks’ condition in mid-January; the 1994 class will miss, among others, the Jan. 11 game against Virtus Bologna.
“Umana Reyer informs that, during the game against Napoli, the athlete Jordan Parks complained of pain in the flexors of the left thigh – reads the note published by the lagoon club on Tuesday -. The instrumental investigations carried out showed a minor muscle injury. The player has already started the therapeutic and rehabilitation path, his condition will be re-evaluated in three weeks”. The date of his return to the parquet is therefore an unknown, the club preferred not to make a statement in this regard also because he is expected to play challenging games both in the league and in the Eurocup.
Jordan Parks had so far played every game for Reyer, producing his best league performance, from the standpoint of points scored, last Nov. 9 in the 89-76 win over Dinamo Sassari. In the Eurocup he managed to do even better, scoring 30 points (plus 8 rebounds) in Reyer’s victorious 94-84 home win over Bahcesehir on Dec. 17, a victory thanks to which Venice is back in the running for qualification to the knockout stage of the second-largest competition among those organized by Euroleague Basketball.
The Reyer’s performance in the Eurocup was a great success.
Born in the borough of Queens, in New York City, on April 6, 1994, Jordan Parks is in his fourth season with Reyer Venezia: previously, after coming out of North Carolina Central University, he wore the undershirts of Trieste, Bonn (Germany), Orlandina, Treviso and Napoli, establishing himself as a productive wing who is also adept at rebounding.
Reyer will face an important period of the season without him: December will close with an away trip to Brescia, while in January the orogranatas will face in Eurocup Neptunas on the 2nd, Cluj-Napoca on the 7th, Slask Wroclaw on the 14th, Hamburg on the 21st and Cedevita Olimpjia on the 28th, while in the league Neven Spahija’s team will face Treviso on the 5th, Virtus Bologna on the 11th, Varese on the 18th and Trapani on the 25th.
