NBA: Kevin Durant enjoys revenge: winning basket against Suns

There are games that taste different from all the others. Durant looked forward to the challenge with Phoenix, aka his former team (he played two and a half years there), to prove that it was a mistake to send him away. Said, done. KD was the big star of the contest, netting the triple that sent the Suns down: 100-97 the final. The best way to “get revenge” for being cut by Phoenix, a franchise where he has felt at home for quite some time.
Durant finished with an impressive 26 points on the scoreboard, including the three-point basket with just over a second to go before the buzzer that was worth the win. “It feels good to play against a team that sent you away and made you the scapegoat for all the problems they had. It hurt me because I put all my commitment, love and passion into the Suns, the city of Phoenix and Arizona in general. But that’s just business, that’s the game,” his words as reported by ESPN.
KD explained that he has a great relationship with his former players but wanted to show Phoenix that he still has fire in him, “I wanted to show that I still have some charge. Even though I’m old, I can still play. I think every player has that mentality when he plays against his former team,” the quip from the current Houston Rockets all-star who took great satisfaction out of beating the Suns in Houston in front of his new fans.
In the other games, Detroit’s fine win over New York (121-90) is worth noting. Boston did well: 115-101 over Charlotte. Toronto gets rid of Atlanta (118-100) while OKC loses again, this time to Charlotte (124-97). Super performance by Miller who puts up an impressive 28 points. At home in OKC, Gilgeous-Alexander’s 21 points were not enough.
In overtime, Denver got the better of the challenge with Philadelphia: 125-124. Without all their starters, the Nuggets relied on Pickett, who scored 29 points, with also seven rebounds. The LA Clippers manage, in a sprint, to overcome Golden State: 103-102 the final. Portland also did well, knocking off Utah (137-117).
