Brahim Diaz is a broken man and apologizes

Morocco had the African Cup of Nations in its hands. If it did not win it, after organizing the tournament, it is because Brahim Diaz missed the penalty kick awarded against Senegal when the game was about to end. Disconcertingly, the former Milan player’s execution from the penalty spot was neutralized by the opposing goalkeeper without the slightest effort. The final decider was then Gueye in extra time.

“My soul hurts – Brahim vented on Instagram -. I dreamed of this title because of all the love you gave me, every message, every show of support that made me feel I was not alone. I fought with everything I had, putting my heart” above all.

“I made a mistake and I take full responsibility for it, apologizing wholeheartedly– he added. It will take time to recover, because this wound is not easily healed, but I will try. Not for me, but for everyone who believed in me and for everyone who suffered together with me”.

“I will go on until one day I can return all this love and be the pride of my Moroccan people” the conclusion with promise to his compatriots.

The World Cup to be played in North and Central America, including Mexico, the United States and Canada, will see Senegal regularly in the starting ribbons. The African national team has been placed in Group I along with France, Norway and a fourth team yet to be determined.

Leading up to the World Cup, Senegal will face the United States in a friendly match, but the now-infamous leaving the field after the penalty was awarded to Morocco could have serious consequences. Those responsible, in fact, risk sanctions and disqualifications for multiple matches, and not just for the challenge against the Americans scheduled for May.
