Juventus beat Napoli 3-0, yet there is something Luciano Spalletti envies in his colleague and opponent Antonio Conte. The Bianconeri coach pointed this out in the aftermath of the match at the Allianz Stadium, in fact giving a’not even too indirect indication to his management. Yet the object of the Tuscan coach’s reflection is a player to score in Sunday’s big match: Jonathan David. Or, to be more precise, the role currently occupied by the Canadian in the tactical chessboard of the Old Lady.

Jonathan David’s newfound scoring streak has in fact led the ‘DAZN’ studio to point out that Juventus no longer has the need to find a role center forward in the January market. A reconstruction, however, that Spalletti has shown he does not share: “I care little. David inside the penalty area and at the level of finalization is very strong. But he was the one who tore this space for himself, taking it away from the opponents. Then there are the forwards, like Hojlund for Napoli. And a player like that at Juventus we don&#8217t have him”.

Spalletti then explained what he meant: “When you have a player like Hojlund, you throw a ball at him and he makes it playable. At that point the team has to go 100 meters to recompose itself in the penalty area. So David scored and that&#8217s all well and good, but you also need the man who gets the ball on him and fights the opposing center back. Maybe I don&#8217t necessarily need him to score goals, but to do that job I do. And you at ‘DAZN’ you have one in the studio, let him talk and hear what he says” concluded the Juventus coach referring to ’former Bianconero Alessandro Matri.

Just in the minutes leading up to the start of the match against Napoli, Giorgio Chiellini had closed down the possibility of the arrival at Juventus of a role center forward, Fenerbahce’s Moroccan Youssef En-Nesyri. “The situation is quite simple – he had said -We went to talk to the boy who expressed doubts about the formula”.

“For us right now it is a closed negotiation, we do not want and cannot buy outright. We will see in the coming days if there are opportunities, we will remain vigilant, but for us I repeat that it is a closed negotiation”, Chiellini had added on En-Nesyri. Spalletti, in some way, immediately made it clear how he thinks.
