Milan-Bologna, Vincenzo Italiano explains the decisive drop in the finale

What looked like a well-directed evening thanks to Orsolini’s goal early in the second half, instead turned into a real slide for Bologna, which losing 3-1 at the San Siro against AC Milan risks permanently compromising the race for the Champions League. The drop in the final did not go unnoticed in the eyes of insiders: Vincenzo Italiano tried to give an explanation for what happened.
“I think the’key aspect of the match is related to the changes – said the falsinei coach to ‘Sky Sport‘ -. I thought to give more energy, instead the blackout came and their changes were more incisive. It’s a shame because until the 1-1 we had played well, in fact we had created the conditions for a double. Instead it went differently”.
On Wednesday, in the Italian Cup final, Italiano hopes that the story will be different: “We have to make a careful analysis, because on Wednesday our hold must be different. Today we were not able to maintain a useful condition to keep the lead in the final quarter of an hour, the substitutes must maintain the same level as those who played from the start. We need to carefully understand what we must not repeat”.
The one awaiting the 47-year-old coach is his fourth final in three seasons, but the statistics so far do not reward him: in fact, at the helm of Fiorentina he has lost two Conference League finals and one Coppa Italia final. “I am focused on the next one – said Italiano -I am convinced that we will not repeat the same mistakes as tonight, we can write history”.
