Orsolini deludes, Gimenez and Pulisic sign the comeback: Milan beats Bologna

The opening match of the thirty-sixth day of the championship between Milan and Bologna ended with the success of the Rossoneri, who won in a comeback 3-1 at the San Siro against the same team they will meet on Wednesday night, at the Olimpico in Rome, in the final of the 2024-2025 Coppa Italia. A result that matured in the last quarter of an hour of play, as happened on Monday at home to Genoa.
The first half is devoid of any major jolts even though Sergio Conceiçao, who displaces everyone by avoiding what could have been a large turnover ahead of the last act of the National Cup, has to deal with the injury of Fikayo Tomori, who was forced to leave the contest at 14′: in his place comes Malick Thiaw, who takes his place in defense along with Gabbia and Pavlovic.
The second half has more to tell, and it does so as early as 4′; when Orsolini takes aim from the edge and beats Maignan, putting the red and blue into the lead. Milan (on the field with jerseys dedicated to Mother’s Day, with the players’ mothers’ surnames behind their backs) struggles to react, although Conceiçao waits until the 20th′ for the first changes, inserting Walker, Chukwueze and Gimenez in place of Pavlovic, Alex Jimenez and Jovic.
It was precisely the ‘Bebote’ who made himself the absolute protagonist in the final phase of the match: in fact, it was his to score the equalizing goal on 28′, made by taking advantage of a quick restart and the ’misplacement of the host defense. Bologna did not find the tangle again and Milan took advantage, going ahead on 34′ Joao Felix′ Joao Felix′ conclusion rejected, ball on the feet of Christian Pulisic who did not miss from a few meters.
After a fine save by Maignan on Cambiaghi at 44′, Milan closed the score in the second minute of recovery: Gimenez received the ball from Chukwueze and skipped past De Silvestri, before depositing the ball behind Skorupski. Milan goes for the three points and temporarily bypasses Fiorentina to move up to eighth place with 60 points, Bologna remains seventh at 62 and is in danger of permanently losing touch with the Champions zone.
