Hard blow for Kay Felder: injury is more serious than expected

Despite the narrow success against Roseto confirmed Pesaro at the top of the Serie A2 standings, Vuelle is struggling to smile: on Monday, in fact, came the confirmation of the long stop to which Kay Felder, one of the landmarks of the red and white team, will be forced. The American, who had already missed some games due to injury in the first part of the season, will have to stop for longer this time and will not be able to help his teammates in the race for promotion at least until the end of March.
“Victoria Libertas Pallacanestro Pesaro announces that player Kay Felder, during the home match against Roseto, suffered an injury to the right long adductor muscle – reads the official statement of the Marche-based club, currently the leader in the A2 standings with 34 points, two more than Cividale, Brindisi and Libertas Livorno -. In the morning Felder underwent clinical-instrumental examinations, at the end of which a recovery path of about 50 days” was defined.
The news comes just a few days before the top challenge against Brindisi, scheduled at the Vitrifrigo Arena next Jan. 30 at 8:45 p.m., but there will be many other games that Felder will surely miss: from now to the next fifty days Pesaro will in fact face as many as six days of the championship, meeting after Brindisi also Cento, Cividale, Scafati, Rimini and JuVi Cremona. In addition, Felder will not be available for the Italian Cup Final Four, scheduled from Friday, March 13 to Sunday, March 15.
The estimated 50 days for recovery thus outlines a return that is not immediate, although it is compatible with the very last phase of the season. The staff’s goal will be to get Felder back on the court without risk, ensuring a gradual return. Pesaro hopes to find the American basketball player at the decisive moment of the year.
Nin 1995, Kay Felder is in his first season at Vuelle: having grown up at Oakland University, he played in the NBA in the uniforms of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls, and Detroit Pistons (as well as in their respective G-League affiliates), before playing in the Chinese league and Puerto Rican league, coming to Italy late last summer.
