Lorenzo Musetti is direct about the difference between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz
The blue champion talked about the two rivals that are dominating tennis right now
Musetti compared Sinner to "Cristiano Ronaldo. Very methodical and perfectionist"
Alcaraz on the other hand is "Zinedine Zidane. He invents a lot and he draws. Also in terms of personality, when he decides to do something he does it without any problem"
"The two of them are a step above everybody"
"But they are two players completely at the'opposite"

"Jannik is a Djokovic 2.0 who shoots harder"
"Carlos is more of an artist and, in his being an artist, he has ups and downs"

"Can sometimes prove less effective than Jannik, who is a steamroller", he said in the'interview on the Small Talk podcast
The victory against De Minaur at the ATP Finals was another step in the growth of the Carrara tennis player
"E' also came thanks to the'energy of the audience"

Diego, what do you think of Lorenzo Musetti?
“I think he is a predestined and behind the two phenomena of the moment (Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, ed.), he is destined to be there. He&#8217s the only one who has the potential to keep up with those two. He is the most talented player, the most ready player. He is the tennis player with what it takes to be number three in the world”.

What does he still lack to play, consistently, at a high level?”
“There are some aspects he needs to work on. The one/two is doing it but he needs to be more incisive. He has to come closer on the response, especially in three-out-of-five tournaments where you spend so much physically and you can go into some physical problems, as happened just with Djokovic. He has to learn to dose himself better: to speed up at certain moments when there&#8217s a push, but also to manage himself. He must not arrive at the end tired”.

.

Can he still improve as a tennis player?
“Certainly. He can improve the athletic part and the emotional part that will lead him to be the third force in tennis. He is not yet 24 years old, his maturation will come at 26/27 years old and then he will play for a long time more. We are talking about the most talented tennis player with a hand like Carlos Alcaraz’s, so something exceptional. He has to be patient. In my opinion he&#8217s the number one suspect to become the spoilsport of those two”.

Lorenzo Musetti, to date, has won two of the nine ATP finals played. In Grand Slam tournaments, he reached the semifinals at Wimbledon (2024) and Roland Garros last year. He participated in the ATP Finals 2025.
