Champions League: Conegliano to quarterfinals, Milan forced into playoffs

The last day of the group stage of the women&#8217s CEV Champions League leaves some regrets for the Italian teams. In particular, as far as Savino del Bene Scandicci and Numia Vero Volley Milano are concerned, who came close to pulling off the feat with VakifBank Istanbul and Eczacibasi Istanbul, respectively. A 3-0 or 3-1 victory (with the lost set no higher than 20) would have been needed to clinch the top spot, a goal only narrowly missed. Scandicci will now have to play the additional round of the playoffs in which it will face Igor Gorgonzola Novara in an Italian derby.

The meneghine will therefore be forced to play in the playoffs, where they will face the Greeks of Olympiacos, already beaten twice in the group.

Finally, no problem for Prosecco Doc A.Carraro Imoco Conegliano at Palaverde in Villorba. The defending champions overcome with a dry 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-12) accrued in just over an hour against LKS Lodz and fly directly to the quarterfinals of the CEV Champions League. The panthers will find in the next round the winner between Germany’s Schwerin and Turkey’s Zeren Ankara, already faced in the rounds and beaten in both the first leg and the return.
