Everything is ready for the Final Four of the 48th edition of the Italian Cup, which will be staged this weekend. Perugia is the big favorite but captain Simone Giannelli keeps his feet on the ground: “It’s great to be part of events like this, because you get there through an important path, both in the league, because of the qualification rules, and thanks to the game played at home against Civitanova in the quarters. Being there is never a given, I always say. We earned it on the court with a very good match against a very high level team, in a dry challenge that we could have even lost”.

“We will go to Bologna to do our best and to win – added the setter of the National team . knowing that we face a very challenging opponent. Verona is playing a high level of volleyball, they are a very physical team and make batting one of their main weapons. When they get into batting they become really difficult to face, as we also saw at home in the tiebreak we lost to them, which was decided by Darlan’s three consecutive aces. I expect a long game, probably a tiebreak game, against a team with great individualities capable of making the difference at any time. We will try to play as a team, finding the right amalgam to limit, as much as possible, their potential.”

Sir Susa Vim Perugia will take the court against Rana Verona in the second semifinal on Saturday, Feb. 7. The day will open at 3:30 p.m. with the first semifinal between Itas Trentino and Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza. The final, which will award the trophy, is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 8, at 6 p.m.
