During the MotoGP season presentation event in Kuala Lumpur, Fabio Quartararo was not present along with the rest of the riders and teams. The reason was related to the injury suffered in the sepang test, held a few days earlier also in Malaysia. In fact, the French Yamaha rider had fallen during the first day of testing, suffering a fracture of the middle finger of his right hand.

After the crash, Quartararo had still managed to return to the track, but the situation of his finger, which was bleeding heavily, convinced him and the team to stop. The Yamaha then decided not to let him participate in the next two days of testing, preferring to avoid any unnecessary risk at a stage still far from the races of the championship.

The 2021 world champion left Malaysia and returned to Andorra, before undergoing medical checks in Barcelona. The tests gave positive results and ruled out the need for surgery. Quartararo also wanted to reassure fans, sending a video message during the event in Kuala Lumpur and explaining that his condition is good.

Paolo Pavesio, executive director of Yamaha Motor Racing, also spoke on stage at the event, clarifying the situation and calming the Yamaha environment. Speaking about the French rider’s absence, Pavesio explained that the stop will be very short and will not affect the start of the season.

Paolo Pavesio said, “He will definitely be present at the test in Thailand and will run the first race” thus confirming Quartararo’s return to the track as early as the next official rounds.

The Yamaha rider will be back in action on February 21 and 22 at the Buriram circuit, site of the last pre-season test. It will be this track that from February 27 to March 1 will open the dances of the 2026 championship.
