Gonzalo Quesada commented with satisfaction on Italy’s victory in the debut match of the Six Nations 2026: “We are happy, we did a great job. During the week we focused on what depended on us and now we can enjoy this success all together”.

“When there are expectations around the team it means we are working well, but we also know where we can and must improve. This victory is the result of a collective effort and is important for the whole movement: seeing children and families identify with these kids is something beautiful. It is up to us to continue our efforts to grow and be an inspiration”.

Captain Michele Lamaro, on the other hand, dwelt in particular on the final minutes of the game: “We found ourselves defending in our own half of the field and we really put our heart into it. When you play everything in the last minutes you show how much you care about this jersey, this team and the teammate you have next to you. It is in those moments that our identity and the desire to prove who we are” come out.

Also emphasized the importance of the work of the forwards, particularly the third lines, who are crucial in curbing Scotland: “When you play in these conditions, the work of the third lines becomes very important. We know their performers well and we tried to break down their systems. We are happy with the energy we brought to the field and the fact that we were ready when we needed to be”.
