The wait is over. Starting at 11:30 a.m., the women&#8217s downhill, one of the most fascinating races of the entire Olympic event, takes the stage. Italy, after getting off to a great start in the Olympics, is aiming to give itself more satisfaction in a downhill race in which the chances of medaling are many. Being able to count on Sofia Goggia and Federica Brignone (albeit back from a long injury) gives confidence to the entire Italian environment that we can increase the medal count.

The women&#8217s downhill is scheduled at the Tofane Alpine Skiing Centre in Cortina d’Ampezzo. In addition to the blue stars, namely Sofia Goggia and Federica Brignone, there are two other Italian nationals at the start, namely Laura Pirovano and Nicol Delgado. These are the bibs of the four Italians: Federica Brignone will ski with number 3, while there’s 7 for Nicol Delgado. Immediately after that will come down Laura Pirovano while Sofia Goggia has number 15 on her bib.

Beware of Lindsay Vonn. Despite many physical troubles and a partial right knee replacement, the 41-year-old outfielder is ready to prove she can still be the best. She appears to be quite well physically and, as always, is capable of raising the bar when something important, such as an Olympic medal, is up for grabs. Also to be held in high regard is Kira Weidle. The 29-year-old German is someone who, if on her day, can make a difference. So can Emma Aicher, another candidate to make her mark.

Among the possible surprises, American Breeze Johnson (best in the second round then cancelled) is capable of surprising. Also cheering for her will be U.S. Vice President J.D.Vance. All the more reason to go beyond one’s limits.

In short, lots of talent in a race that promises sparks. Italy wants at least one’more medal but, above all, to continue to be the protagonist as happened on the first day of the Olympics. The women’s downhill is a great opportunity.
