Roma market, fans tremble: Paulo Dybala’s future is a rebus

The negotiation that may decide Paulo Dybala’s future has now entered the decisive phase. On the sidelines of the match between Roma and Cagliari on Monday night, the third game missed consecutively by the Argentine due to injury, Frederic Massara explained to the microphones of Sky Sport that the club has started discussions with the agents of the expiring players, among whom there is also La Joya, to see if the conditions exist to continue together. Dybala, class of 1993, has been with the Giallorossi since the summer of 2022.

Roma’s D.S. stressed that Dybala has never failed in his professionalism and attachment. Roma is now evaluating strategies and sustainability of the technical project around the Joya: “The renewal issue has not yet been addressed in detail– Massara said -, but it is part of the framework of upcoming decisions”. Dybala remains one of the pivots of Gasperini&#8217s team when he is available, but the club has to evaluate costs, continuity and prospects: the dialogue with the entourage is open, but there is tension among the fans for a farewell that cannot be ruled out.

The renewal dossier is not only about Dybala. In fact, Roma is also evaluating the positions of Stephan El Shaarawy, Zeki Celik and Lorenzo Pellegrini, all of whom are expiring and all involved in the discussions started with their respective agents. For El Shaarawy, the club recognizes technical weight and quiet leadership, but wants to understand economic margins and future role. On Celik, the reflection is more technical: continuity and performance will be central to the decision. Pellegrini, finally, remains a locker room reference, but even for him total alignment on the project will be needed.

Massara explained that every evaluation will be made, between now and the end of the season, without forcing: Roma wants to maintain a reliable core next year as well, but also open room for renewal. The coming weeks will be used to understand which profiles best meet Gasperini’s needs.

In addition to the renewal issue, Roma’s sporting director gave a small hint about a possible return to management of Francesco Totti: “We are talking about a man who has made the history of the club – he said -. With the owners he has a good relationship, they will know if and how to envisage his return”.
