Toprak Razgatlioglu is experiencing a more complex than expected approach to the MotoGP 2026 season. After encouraging signs in the post-season tests in Valencia, the Turkish rider encountered more difficulties during the Shakedown and subsequent pre-season tests in Sepang, where the chronometric feedback did not reflect his expectations. The eighteenth time in the last session highlighted an adaptation path that is still in progress.

The new Pramac rider made it clear that he is engaged in arduous technical and mental work, looking for solutions to get closer to the benchmarks of colleagues more accustomed to MotoGP. The performance according to his point of view, is not yet up to the goals set, especially considering the prestigious palmarès built in Superbike. “It’s not easy for me to see my name so far down in the rankings, especially after my successes in Superbike.”

2 Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha): 12 million euros. The 2021 world champion could be in his last year at Yamaha
The excluded: Pedro Acosta and Alex Marquez. Paradoxically, two of last season’s best riders are also among the lowest paid. Acosta has a salary of 1.5 million in KTM
Marc Marquez’s brother, Alex, draws less than a million euros from the Ducati Gresini team
1 Marc Marquez (Ducati): 17.2 million euros. The world champion’s base salary is 12 million euros, raised after last season’s victories

The three-time world champion represents one of the most unique cases on the 2026 MotoGP grid. Unlike many of his rivals, he did not rise through the Moto3 and Moto2 categories, but made the jump to MotoGP directly from World Superbike. This makes his debut in the premier class as fascinating as it is complex.

During the Malaysian tests, difficulties also emerged related to the Michelin tires, which are very different from the Pirelli tires used in Superbike. The Turkish rider also made it clear that he must change his natural way of riding, giving up the aggressive and spectacular style that has always characterized him: “You have to ride like in Moto2 and open the throttle very gently because the rear is very sensitive”. However, Pirelli’s future move to sole MotoGP supplier from 2027 could be an element of confidence going forward, leaving the door open for gradual but significant growth.
