The Saudi Pro League is going through a confusing and problem-filled phase, the’prime example being the Cristiano Ronaldo situation. In recent days, the Portuguese legend has refused to train and play in protest of PIF, the Saudi government fund that owns some shares in clubs including Al Nassr and Al Hilal. According to CR7, executives are neglecting ‘his’ Al Nassr and this is evidenced by the latest buying campaign.

The’Al-Nassr in this market session signed Abdullah Al-Hamdan and Haydeer Abdulkareem, while the’Al Hilal on the other hand invested a lot to acquire Kader Meïté, Saïmon Bouabré, Murad Al-Hawsawi, Rayan Al-Dossary, Sultan Mandash, Pablo Marí and especially Karim Benzema. The Frenchman arrived for free from Al Ittihad’Al Ittihad but will receive a very high salary.

During the latest episode of his podcast, Toni Kroos sided with his former teammate: “The league of Saudi Arabia is a strange phenomenon. No one had heard of it before Cristiano Ronaldo&#8217s arrival and now they disrespect the man who made them known around the world. If Cristiano leaves tomorrow, this league will lose all its appeal. Without Ronaldo, no one would watch the Saudi Pro League”. His words have triggered the sheikhs’ire and on social media many Arab fans have attacked Kroos.

Cristiano Ronaldo&#8217s behavior did not please the Saudi Pro League top brass at all, who rebuked him harshly through an official statement:“Our league is structured around a simple principle: each club operates independently under the same rules. Clubs have their own boards, their own executives and their own football vision. Decisions on acquisitions, spending and strategies are up to those clubs, within a financial framework designed to ensure sustainability and competitive balance”.

“This framework applies equally to the entire league. Cristiano Ronaldo has been fully involved with Al-Nassr since his arrival and has played an important role in the club’s growth and ambition. Like any elite player, he wants to win. But no individual, no matter how important, determines decisions beyond his own club” warned the leaders of the Arab league.
