Upamecano explains why he renewed with Bayern. Not for the money

After months of negotiations, including ups and downs and several twists and turns, Dayot Upamecano has finally extended his contract with Bayern Munich. The grueling negotiations upset many fans and even the German champions’ managers, who expected a quicker solution.

Bayern Munich showered gold on the French national, who in addition to earning 20 million euros a year also got a signing bonus of 20 million plus a rescission clause that will be triggered from 2027. But now Upamecano denies that the’financial aspect was the deciding factor in the contract extension.

I can learn a lot from a player as good as Jonathan Tah”.

Kompany has praise especially for coach Vincent Kompany, who has been making him perform at his best since he arrived in Monaco: “He is a coach who is very open to dialogue. He is doing a very good job and I am happy because, if I think of something in training that doesn”t convince me, I can go to his office and talk to him about it”.
