After three and a half years away from the fields, Serse Cosmi returns to coaching: he will be, in fact, the new coach of Salernitana, replacing the exonerated Giuseppe Raffaele. The 65-year-old Umbrian coach, who rose to the headlines at the beginning of the 2000s thanks to the exploits of his Perugia, thus regains the trust of a club after a long period as a pundit on TV and radio, during which he had never hidden his desire to return to the bench.

Third in the standings after twenty-eight days in Serie C’s Girone C, Salernitana is looking for a shakeup after a series of fluctuating results, which have caused the granata to lose abundant ground from leading Benevento (the gap has grown to 14 points) but also from second-placed Catania (the Etnei are +9 ahead of Salernitana). The knockout at the Arechi against Monopoli (1-0, Scipioni’s decisive goal) was the final breaking point, ending Raffaele’s experience and, in fact, kicking off the Cosmi era.
