After the Olympic interlude, Alpine skiing is back to breathe the air of the 2025-2026 World Cup, with the women&#8217s white circus moving to Soldeu, in the Principality of Andorra, for a weekend entirely dedicated to speed.

On Friday, February 27, the downhill will be run, while on the following two days a double commitment in Super-G is scheduled. As for the Italian colors, the eyes of fans and insiders will inevitably be on Federica Brignone and Sofia Goggia.

The two champions arrive in Soldeu in decidedly different moods.

Brignone took the stage in Milan Cortina 2026, winning two gold medals, in the Super-G and the giant slalom, despite the fact that her own participation was not certain close to the Games, given the long and difficult recovery from the very serious injury last April. Goggia, who nonetheless enriched her Olympic palmarés with a bronze medal in the downhill, instead recorded two falls, in the combined and Super-G, and a 10th place in the giant slalom, a result she herself described as disappointing after placing third at the end of the first run.

The Pyrenean weekend will undoubtedly weigh more heavily on the Bergamasque financier’s World Cup tally than on that of the Carabinieri from Valle d’Aosta: Goggia must in fact defend her supremacy in the Super-G ranking and, although Lindsey Vonn is out of the picture due to the serious injury suffered on the very Olympic track, there still remains competition from Alice Robinson, who is 60 points behind in the specialty ranking, without forgetting that the 200 points up for grabs next weekend could in fact upset the ranking, with the’inclusion of surprise elements.

Goggia and Brignone are just two of the many blue athletes who will be part of the Andorran expedition: along with them will be Sara Allemand, Elena Curtoni, sisters Nadia and Nicol Delago, Roberta Melesi, Laura Pirovano, Sara Thaler and Asja Zenere. Soldeu, however, has never been a particularly generous land with the Italian colors: the’only victory bears the signature of Federica Brignone in the 2015-2016 season, in Super-G.

In a context dense with technical and emotional crossovers, then, Soldeu becomes a key passage: for Sofia Goggia it will be a chance to get her own season in order, while for Brignone it will represent a further test after her double gold. The Andorran weekend promises important answers for both of them towards the final phase of the World Cup.
