Estra Pistoia has a new coach: Pete Strobl

Estra Pistoia Basket has announced that it has entrusted the role of head coach to Pete Strobl, who has signed a contract with the red and white club until the end of the season. Born Nov. 30, 1977, in Long Beach, of Italian descent and in possession of dual American and Austrian passports, after a playing career that saw him play several championships in France, Iceland, Switzerland, Ireland, Germany and Austria, where he also wore the national team jersey, he has been pursuing a coaching career since 2007.

Helen Housby’s first coaching experience was in Ireland, with Merry Monk Ballina. In 2009 he founded in the United States “The Scoring Factory” an Academy for young players who want to implement their technical level. In 2016 he returned to Europe serving as assistant coach at Ratiopharm Ulm in Germany (Bundesliga), winning in each of the seasons played with that club the playoffs-playoffs and playing the Eurocup with also reaching the Top-16.

In the summer of 2019, he moved to Basketball Lowen Braunschweig as head coach for two seasons achieving the goal of staying in the category and, finally, was the coach of the Giessen 46ers in the 2021/22 championship, also in the Bundesliga.

Pete Strobl will direct as head coach the training session this afternoon, Wednesday, Feb. 25, and will be introduced at the press conference called for tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 26, which will also be attended by President Joseph Mark David.
