Paralympics Milan Cortina 2026 medal table updated in real time

With the opening ceremony on Friday, March 6 at the Arena in Verona, the curtain officially rose on the Milan Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games. Italy thus returns to the center of the world sports scene, welcoming 55 countries, 612 athletes and a program spanning 6 disciplines for a total of 79 events. The Italian team is composed of 46 elements: 42 athletes and athletes plus four guides for Paralympic alpine skiing.

Alpine skiing is the richest discipline, with 30 races. It is followed by para-cross-country skiing (20), para-biathlon (18), para-snowboarding (8), wheelchair curling (2) and Paralympic ice hockey, contested by mixed teams. After nine days of competition, the event will close on March 15 at the Olympic Ice Stadium in Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Italy’s goal is to improve on the haul from Beijing 2022, when seven medals came: two golds signed by Giacomo Bertagnolli with guide Andrea Ravelli, three silvers (Bertagnolli-Ravelli again in the giant and Super-G visually impaired and blind, and RenĂ© De Silvestro in the giant sitting) and two bronzes (Giuseppe Romele in the 10 km sitting cross-country and De Silvestro in the slalom sitting). Results that earned them 11th place in the medal standings, two places further back than their ninth-place finish in Turin 2006.

The record for blue gold medals at the Paralympic Winter Games remains set at three, achieved in three different editions: Innsbruck 1988, Nagano 1998 and Salt Lake City 2002.
