Gerald Robinson proud to be back in A: "So much motivation"

Pallacanestro Cantu'

Aqua S.Bernardo Pallacanestro Cantù has signed Gerald Robinson: he will replace Chris Chiozza, who is in the box due to a muscle problem. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, on Feb. 10, 1989, Robinson is a 185-cm, 80-pound point guard who will bring experience and leadership to the White and Blue booth.

“I’m very happy to be here,” he said. “This new challenge gives me a lot of motivation to face a final season in which we want to take some good satisfaction and reach the goals required by the club. Also on a personal level, coming back to measure myself against Serie A after a couple of years is a great incentive to do well.”
Robinson trained basketball between colleges at Tennessee State and Georgia. In 2012 he made his professional debut in Belgium in Leuven, beginning a long career in the European leagues.

The following year he was at Hapoel Gilboa Galil, a stage that anticipated his consecration in Latvia with the jersey of VEF Riga, with which he won the championship as a star player with an average of more than 17 points. In the following two seasons he plays in prestigious clubs on the continent such as Nanterre and Alba Berlin. In 2017 he returned to the French league by signing with Monaco, where he stayed for two years. In the first season he distinguished himself by exceeding 15 points average both in Pro A and in the Basketball Champions League and contributing to the victory of the Leaders Cup; in the following one he also asserted himself in the Eurocup.

He also played the same competition in the first half of the following year with Promitheas, then ended in Turkey at Bursaspor. In 2020 he signed with Virtus Roma, whose failure, however, led him to move first to Pesaro and then to Dijon. He starts the following season in Germany before moving to Sassari, where he puts together 14.2 points and 7.9 assists on average. He stays in Sardinia the following year as well. In the 2023-24 season he is in Scafati, before moving down the ladder and signing a two-year deal with Rimini. In the current season he scored 11 points and dished out 3.9 assists per game.
