MotoGP, Jorge Martin not feeling his best ahead of U.S. GP

After just a week, MotoGP returns and it does so in Austin for the United States Grand Prix. Much anticipation for the new round of the premier class World Championship. In the spotlight Jorge Martin, finally back in the spotlight. However, the Spaniard admitted to the microphones of DAZN EspaƱa that he doesn’t feel at his best physically, despite finishing second in the long race in Brazil and third in the Sprint.
“Sunday was crazy and I had a lot of fun. I am happy with how things are going, but there is not much time to enjoy it as we are living a very long World Championship.” In addition, the Aprilia rider highlighted some of his concerns: “Now we need to focus on Austin, a new and difficult track. We will see how it will go. I charged a little physically from Brazil and maybe that’s why I didn’t enjoy the podium to the fullest and I’m a little worried to see how my body will react in Austin.”
According to the Spaniard, the Aprilia seems to have no weak points: “I think and trust that the bike will work well; the base we have is working well everywhere, although this is perhaps the most particular track of the year as far as the configuration is concerned.” Jorge Martin also pointed out that he has some “scars” left from the injury he suffered last year: “It’s more a question of how my body will react after two consecutive races, because I still have discomfort in my hand and when I don’t have much time to rest I don’t recover well.”
Further, the Aprilia rider revealed that he had a very good “sixth sense”: “I always thought that Aprilia was the only place where I could compete with Ducati, and in the end it seems I was right.” Finally, according to Jorge Martin, the number one favorite remains Marc Marquez, who has seven wins at the Austin circuit since 2013: “It’s very difficult to beat Marc here, it’s his circuit: My goal though is to try to get the best out of this race and score points. We’ll see on Sunday where we finish, but we have to work well and continue what we’re doing so far, without changing anything.”
