Igor Tudor, Tottenham farewell: a 43-day-long ordeal

Igor Tudor’s nightmarish experience at Tottenham Hotspur has ended after a month and a half. The London club announced the consensual termination of the contract with the Croatian coach, who leaves England after 43 days to forget. Taking over in mid-February in place of the exonerated Thomas Frank, the former Juventus coach failed to turn around a team in disarray, very close to relegation to the Championship when the stated goal at the beginning of the season was to qualify for the Champions League.

Tudor scored just one point in five Premier League matches, totaling four defeats and one draw, and under his leadership came the heavy elimination in the Champions League double-header against Atletico Madrid. The Croatian coach, who had started the season as Juventus coach before being exonerated and replaced at the end of October by Luciano Spalletti, also lost his father Mario, who died during Tottenham’s last match against Nottingham Forest, during this bitter period in England.

Spurs, desperately looking for a foothold in salvation (the relegation zone is just one point away), have decided on a technical change and will announce in the coming days the new coach who will take the Croatian coach’s place.

“We can confirm that it has been mutually agreed that coach Igor Tudor will leave the club with immediate effect. Tomislav Rogic and Riccardo Ragnacci have also left their respective roles as goalkeeper coach and athletic trainer. We thank Igor, Tomislav and Riccardo for their commitment over the past six weeks, during which they worked tirelessly. We also express our sympathy to Igor for his recent bereavement and send our support to him and his family during this difficult time. We will provide updates on the appointment of the new coach in due course,” reads the note released by the Londoners.
