Aprilia made history in America, teams in ecstasy

The weekend at the Circuit of the Americas closes with a historic result for Aprilia Racing, which wins its second consecutive one-two. And the team, rightly, is ecstatic.

Marco Bezzecchi, starting from fourth on the grid due to a penalty incurred in Q2, was the protagonist of an extraordinary race. After a contact during the first lap that damaged the rear wing of his RS-GP26, the Italian rider took the lead already at the end of the first pass and kept it until the checkered flag. With this result he takes his fifth consecutive victory, becoming the third rider in the modern era to do so after Valentino Rossi and Marc Márquez.

For Bezzecchi it is also the sixth top class victory with Aprilia Racing, as well as being the first rider to win the first three Grands Prix of the season, an achievement not recorded since 2014. The Italian rider becomes the first to win five consecutive GPs by staying in the lead from the first to the last lap in the modern era of MotoGP: in fact, Bezzecchi has ridden entirely in the lead the last five GPs and, with today’s result, rises to 121 consecutive laps in the lead, surpassing the previous record of Jorge Lorenzo (103).

The one-two is completed by Jorge Martín, author of a solid race finished in second position. For the Spanish rider, this is the second consecutive podium finish in the long race with Aprilia Racing and the second podium result of the weekend, after his victory in Saturday’s sprint.

For Aprilia Racing, this is the eleventh victory in the top class, the second in Austin after Maverick Viñales’ in 2024, and the fifth consecutive. The House of Noale also wins its third top class one-two and, for the first time in its history, two consecutive one-twos. With today’s success, Aprilia Racing rises to 305 victories in MotoGP.
