Alexander Zverev doesn’t hold back on Jannik Sinner

Alexander Zverev in an interview with the podcast ‘Nothing Major’ reflected on how much tennis has changed in recent years with the advent of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. The German tennis player is also trying to update his style, making it more aggressive, in order to compete with the two currently strongest players in the square.
“The main difference from the Big 3 generation is that the game has changed. Now everyone hits the ball hard and has more or less the same style of play. There is no longer the variety of Roger Federer or the exasperated top spin of Rafa Nadal,” Zverev explained.
“Carlitos Alcaraz has slightly different characteristics than the others, but the rest of the players are all pretty similar. Sinner hits very hard from the baseline, as do Fritz, Draper, Rublev and all the others,” Sascha continued.
In comparison to before, according to Zverev, the level has risen. “The players who are stationed outside the Top 15 have definitely improved. In the past, it was very unlikely for a top player to lose to world number 30 in a Slam or Masters 1000. The gap has narrowed in recent years and the results have become less predictable. Rublev can lose to Cerundolo at Roland Garros, just as Tommy Paul can surprise Casper Ruud.”
But there remain certainties: “The only certainties are Sinner, Alcaraz and Djokovic. Notably, Sinner and Alcaraz have shared the last 19 tournaments they have both participated in. The last nine Slams have been monopolized by these two players, with five wins by Alcaraz and four by Sinner.
