Inter market, goal at Roma overturns Calhanoglu’s future

It all seemed already decided. For weeks there has been talk of a possible return to his homeland, namely Turkey, for Calhanoglu. The 32-year-old midfielder still has one year left on his contract with the Nerazzurri club but the feeling was that his adventure in Milan, Inter’s side, had come to an end.

Too strong was the lure of Galatasaray to pretend nothing had happened. Yet, suddenly, the whole landscape seems to have changed. The extraordinary goal scored at Villar during the challenge with Roma reminded everyone how decisive the Turk is, especially if in perfect physical condition.

Inter no longer seems so well disposed to let him go at the end of the current season, indeed now there are even rumors of a possible renewal for another year, then until June 2028. Coach Chivu dotes on the midfielder, considering him a key man in his team. In short, if it were up to Chivu, Calhanoglu would not change teams next summer.

The person concerned, at the moment, does not seem to want to think about his future. There is a Scudetto to win, a Coppa Italia semifinal to play and, on the horizon, the World Cup with his beloved Turkey. In short, better to focus on the field even if, sooner or later, he will have to make a decision. Inter is ready to negotiate but with an eye on the renewal.
