Fate gave him a chance, and Di Gregorio made the most of it. After nearly two months as a spectator, the Juventus goalkeeper returned to the field. Perin’s injury at the end of the first half of the challenge with Genoa forced coach Spalletti to bet on Di Gregorio, who responded great, saving the penalty to Martin that could have reopened the match.

A solid performance, the kind that can turn a season around. After losing the role of the Old Lady’s starting goalkeeper to the experienced Perin, here was the former Monza extreme defender making a comeback, confirming that he has what it takes to play for a top team like Juventus.

At this point, Di Gregorio’s future is again an unknown. Everything was hinting at his farewell at the end of the season, despite a contract with the Bianconeri until June 2029 but, the great test with Genoa, may have convinced the club to think longer about the future fate of the 1997-born goalkeeper.

To date, many goalkeepers have been approached to the Old Lady. There has been talk, for example, of Alisson. The 1992-class goalkeeper, who won the 2018-2019 Champions League with the Reds, renewed not long ago, until 2027, precisely with Liverpool, which, however, between technical reconstruction on the horizon and a market that could lead to unexpected choices, would not rule out an outgoing negotiation in the face of an offer deemed congruous. Juventus must decide what to do. Meanwhile, Di Gregorio is enjoying, at last, the positive moment.
