Nicolò Bulega dreams of MotoGP but there are several obstacles

Nicolo Bulega’s future in MotoGP has become complicated, despite his great results in Superbike with Ducati. Looking ahead to 2027, almost all the Desmosedicis are already assigned: the factory team still awaits the confirmation of Marc Marquez, while Pedro Acosta will take the place of Pecco Bagnaia who will go to Aprilia. Even in the satellite teams, the scenario is defined: the VR46 Racing Team has already announced the arrival of Fermin Aldeguer and is aiming for confirmation with Fabio Di Giannantonio, while Gresini Racing is doting on Daniel Hoggato and hoping for the return of Enea Bastianini. In fact, very little space remains and with other names ahead. For this reason, despite the role of test rider and good signs in testing, the leader of the World Superbike risks having to postpone again his landing in MotoGP.
His menager Alberto Martinelli expressed himself in an interview with GPOne.com: “To date we do not have a written proposal in hand. We are working and talking with everyone, but at the moment there is nothing definite. Nicolò is not the first choice otherwise he would already be settled, but we have to be ready if a space opens up.” In addition, he added, “In Ducati it seems that the bikes are almost all assigned. Maybe there is one free left, but it depends on so many movements.”
The Italian rider’s menager emphasized of how much several aspects count to land in MotoGP: “It takes little to change everything, but at the moment it is a very uncertain situation and then there is another aspect to hold. In my opinion other factors also count, such as nationality. But in the end you know, the MotoGP system today takes into account so many balances.” But at the same time he has no doubts: “I am of the opinion that if Nicolò had a technically viable chance in MotoGP he would be in front. But I also understand the teams: after a few races it is difficult to make final decisions.”
Alberto Martinelli, however, keeps calm: “I don’t make my funeral before time. As long as there is hope we work for that, and if the jump to the other paddock does not come we will calmly reassess everything.” Finally, he also stated that there will be a great opportunity for Nicolò Bulega: “At the moment, Nicolò had a chance as a test rider with the 850cc MotoGP and we are grateful to Ducati for this great opportunity. His dream, however, is MotoGP, consequently that is our goal.”
