Sofia Goggia has already set her big goal for the 2026/2027 season: the World Cup in Crans-Montana. The Azzurra, who has already won four times in World Cup downhill in the Swiss resort, will go in the hunt next season for her first rainbow gold medal, the last major laurel still missing from her prestigious collection.

After clinching the specialty cup in SuperG in Kvitfjell, the Bergamo-born skier has decided to break away completely, and unlike last year her postseason will be focused on rest and a different preparation than last season.

The Italian champion, who will also announce changes in her coaching staff in the coming weeks, wants to return dominant in her favorite specialty, downhill, which gave her very little satisfaction in the season that just ended. Regaining her quality in downhill is considered a key step, and the Bergamasque star wants to do it as soon as possible.

Already when she spoke on Fiorello’s program, Sofia was clear: “I have already won the Olympics, but I still miss the World Championships. I have the silver and bronze, but not the gold medal.”

“It was a challenging season. Expectations were very high because I committed to three disciplines. I missed downhill, I had an inconsistent season, while it was very consistent in super-G. In giant slalom, however, I sowed but did not harvest. However, I will not leave giant slalom because I think it is the basis of all disciplines, even the fast ones.”

“Now, I will completely detach, I want to take a month and a half to live my life and detach from my work. Last year there was the Olympic goal, so I also worked a lot in the spring. This year I plan to live my life away from the slopes.”
