Virtus Bologna’s black period continues, as it lost 85-80 against Bayern Munich on the third-to-last day of the Euroleague regular season, recording its seventh loss in a row between Italy and Europe. Therefore, the joy of the first success as head coach of the Black Vu has not yet arrived for Nenad Jakovljevic, who after the game made an all but veiled reference to the team’s needs at the roster level, anticipating further evaluations of the club in the market.

“There are already names on the list and we have added others, also to help those who are already in the group – said the coach who last March 27 took over from Dusko Ivanovic, whose assistant he had been -. We have to think game by game and regain the victory, because every time we take the court we play to win: in the coming days, however, we expect news about possible new arrivals.”

On the evening at Virtus Arena and on a defeat that came in a sprint, after coming back up to +2, the Serbian-Italian coach explained, “We were again close to winning and we didn’t: some reason you see it in the statistics, some other is deeper. We lacked lucidity on defense in the last two of their possessions, a lot came from there. Still, the team spirit is good, despite the seven defeats in a row.”

The schedule now offers the last two Euroleague games, at home against Baskonia on Friday and on the neutral site in Belgrade against Maccabi Tel Aviv on Thursday 16, interspersed with the home championship game against Cantù on Monday night. Then it will be only championship for the Black Vu’s, who have not played an elimination game in the Euroleague since the 2023-2024 play-in year, when it was Baskonia that mocked the team then led by Luca Banchi in the final for the eighth seed.
