There are several clubs that have shown interest in Jonathan David, who continues to appeal to many despite a subpar year at Juventus. In the front row are Lyon led by Fonseca, who has been working for weeks to bring him back to Ligue 1, and Marseille. West Ham and Nottingham Forest, who had already tried to move in January before changing targets, also remain vigilant.

Marseille, for its part, appears to be the most concrete track in Ligue 1, especially in case of qualification for the next Champions League: relations between the two clubs are excellent, as demonstrated by the Weah operation last summer, and a center forward accustomed to scoring consistently in the French league would be an ideal reinforcement to reduce the gap with PSG.

From the Premier League, on the other hand, there is also interest from Aston Villa, which needs a major change at the squad level and sees in the Canadian a profile from which to start again. The English clubs, after all, would not have economic difficulties in formulating an adequate offer.

The player’s valuation does not appear particularly high: Juventus, which had signed him on a zero-parameter basis last summer, could be satisfied with a figure between 25 and 30 million euros.

A request in line with the economic possibilities of the interested clubs. The real obstacle, rather, concerns the Canadian’s salary of about 6 million net per season, which is considered high in light of his seasonal performance, with 7 goals in 40 appearances and an overall employment that is not always continuous.

There has been no shortage of illustrious criticism of the striker. Fabrizio Ravanelli, a former HCL great, put David in the dock along with Lois Openda, identifying character as the crux of the problem: “They have had difficulties along with the whole team: their performance is also due to a turbulent season, without clarity in the system of play. They, however, have shown that they have character gaps. I played at this club and I’m a fan: in addition to quality, to play at Juventus you need to show the personality to represent one of the best clubs in the world, you can’t hide.”
