Jannik Sinner does not hide his satisfaction with his triumph in Monte Carlo, his fourth consecutive Masters 1000 won by beating longtime rival Carlos Alcaraz in the final, also surpassing him in the world rankings. After the victory Sinner emphasized how his team’s strategy worked: “We came here trying to accumulate as many matches as possible to get feedback on clay, with the big tournaments coming up. There were ups and downs for both of us today, but it wasn’t easy because of the wind.”

“Coming back number 1 is an incredible accomplishment and is important to me, but the ranking is secondary. I’m happy to have finally won an important tournament on this surface,” emphasized the South Tyrolean champion.

The Blue then went into the details of his match with Alcaraz: “I felt close in the answering games; in the second set, back by a break, I tried to stay close mentally, keeping a proactive attitude. This tournament means a lot to me.”

The final ended with a score of 7-6, 6-3 in favor of the South Tyrolean at the end of a hard-fought match affected by the wind. In the first set Sinner suffered an immediate break in the second game, but reacted quickly by counter-breaking Alcaraz in the third. The set then slipped all the way to the tie-break, where the Italian touched 5-2, saw the Spaniard come back up to 5-5, and then close on 7-5. In the second partial, after going down by a break in the third game, Sinner found the counterbreak in the sixth game and the decisive break in the eighth, taking home the title.

With this success, Sinner rises to 22 consecutive Masters 1000 victories and takes his 27th career title, edging out Alcaraz himself, who is stuck at 26. The feat also allows him to equal and surpass a historic record: becoming the first player since Novak Djokovic, who achieved it in 2015, to win the first three Masters 1000s of the season. Earlier, in 2026, Sinner had already conquered Indian Wells and Miami, completing the so-called Sunshine Double for the first time in his career without losing a single set.
