This time, Tadey Pogacar has to bow his head: Wout van Aert won his first Paris-Roubaix by beating at the sprint to the finish line the very Slovenian outclassman, who still remains dry in the only Monument Classic he has yet to win in his glorious career.

For Van Aert, on the other hand, it is the second Monument won in his career after the Milan-San Remo won in 2020. “Paris-Roubaix has given me tough moments, but on days like today it’s the most beautiful race there is,” he said at the end of the race.

The Team Visma rider experiences a heart-pounding day, twice puncturing but managing to get back on the best. Then he attacked first in the last part of the race and surprisingly beat Alcaraz in the final circuit.

Third place went to Jasper Stuyven while the other favorite of the eve Mathieu van der Poel failed to make it to the podium. It was also a bitter day for Filippo Ganna, who was blocked by punctures.
