Carlos Alcaraz, the'former Ferrero coach sounds the'alarm regarding the duel with Jannik Sinner

Carlos Alcaraz’s former coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, the man who most contributed to the Murcia champion’s growth and development, in an interview with El Pais issued a warning about the Iberian’s career and the comparison with Jannik Sinner.
“Carlos can become one of the best in history,” Ferrero premised. “In terms of results, he is already breaking many records. He has the tennis, the physicality and the mental strength. But one thing could stop him: loss of motivation.”
“It’s something that can happen when you start so young. I’ve always told him that when motivation is lacking, discipline must take over,” said the Murcian’s former coach, who last year ended his partnership with Alcaraz, which began in 2018.
“As long as he continues to have fun and play the way he is now, he will have a very long career,” Ferrero continued. “But as I’ve always told him, when motivation is lacking, discipline must take over strongly. It is fundamental. In the beginning, when everything is new, motivation is through the roof. But once you’ve been on the circuit for three or four years, discipline has to emerge. You have to really understand the path to follow, know yourself perfectly, and work, work and work to stay at the level you want to be at even when the motivation drops a little bit”-a modus operandi that his rival, Jannik Sinner seems to have long since put in place.
Ferrero cites Novak Djokovic as an example: “If you ask him, Novak will tell you that he is not as motivated as he was when he was 23 or 24, but the discipline he shows in tournaments is key, the way he takes care of himself, the way he does things, the way he trains.”
