Madrid Masters 1000 men’s draw: Jannik Sinner starts with a qualifier

The men’s draw for the Madrid Masters 1000, scheduled for April 22 to May 3, has been drawn. Absent Carlos Alcaraz, due to a known wrist injury, and Novak Djokovic, not yet physically ready, all the spotlight is on Jannik Sinner, the big favorite for the final victory

The world number 1 will begin his adventure at the Madrid tournament from the second round and will face a qualifier. It should be remembered that Jannik Sinner is aiming to win his fifth Masters 1000 in a row, a feat that would make him even more of a legend than he already is.

Lorenzo Musetti and Flavio Cobolli will also take the court starting in the second round. The former will face the winner of the match between Hubert Hurkacz and a qualifier. The Barcelona Open finalist, meanwhile, whoever wins the match between Gael Monfils and Ugo Carabelli. Luciano Darderi is also skipping the first round and will start directly from the second against the winner of the Cerundolo/Altmaier match.

Among the many matches awaiting the Italians, interesting is the challenge between Matteo Berrettini and Raphael Collignon, fresh winner of the Monza Challenger tournament. On the court, in the first round, also Lorenzo Sonego (against a qualifier), Mattia Bellucci, expected to face Damir Dzumhur and Federico Cinà (match with Alex Michelsen).
