Exactly two months to go until the 64th edition of the Monza Resegone, scheduled for Saturday, June 20, and the public response once again confirms the strength of the event: there are already 100 registered teams, for a total of 300 athletes ready to take the start. But registration is still open, until May 30.

A significant participation for a race that continues to occupy a special place in the Lombardy running scene and in the sporting history of the area. The Monza Resegone, in fact, combines the dimension of the mountain marathon with the value of team spirit, maintaining a unique formula: it is run in teams of three athletes, with departure from the Arengario in Monza and arrival at the Capanna Alpinisti Monzesi, on the Resegone.

Also confirmed for the 2026 edition are the two modes of participation that in recent years have helped to strengthen the attractiveness of the event. In the Classic formula, which represents the most authentic soul of the race, the three athletes tackle the entire 42-kilometer route and 1,000 meters of positive elevation gain together, sharing fatigue, pace and strategy until the final finish line.

Along with the traditional formula, the Relay, the relay version divided into three fractions, designed to allow multiple runners to experience the Monza Resegone in an accessible and dynamic way, also returns. In this case, athletes take turns along the route: the first fraction goes from Monza to Osnago, the second from Osnago to Olginate, and the third from Olginate to the Alpinisti Monzesi hut on the Resegone.

“We are working with great attention on the whole organizational machine to guarantee athletes the best possible race conditions, from the garrison of the route to the refreshments, up to the assistance throughout the event,” comments Enrico Dell’Orto, president of the Società Alpinisti Monzesi. “The Monza Resegone is an important sporting challenge, but it is also an event that involves a very involved public. For this reason, our commitment also concerns the experience of those who will be on the route to wait for and support the runners: we would like to make everyone experience an intense and exciting evening, capable of bringing the value of this race to the fullest.”

Two different modalities but one and the same identity: that of a race that continues to stand out for its strong ties with the territory, its ability to involve different generations and profiles of athletes, and a formula that focuses on endurance, belonging and team spirit.
