Valerio Bianchini speaks out to Trieste fans after protest

Valerio Bianchini took to Facebook to comment on the protest of Pallacanestro Trieste fans against FIP. In his view, the protest is understandable, but a broader picture related to the economic history of Italian basketball should also be considered.

“Trieste fans’ protest is understandable,” reads a post. However, one cannot fail to note that the economic sustenance of basketball has been provided in the past by passionate patrons who have put money from their own pockets.”

“Basketball has rested on them doing little to enhance its image by creating alternative resources. Now times have changed and the vanished patrons need to be found alternative resources and a new way of running the sports business by accepting change,” the legendary coach concluded.
