After Friday’s appetizer, with Mallorca’s 1-0 success at home to Girona (decisive goal by Samu Costa at 43′), La Liga offers fans a rather rich dish on this Saturday, May 2. It starts at 2 p.m. with the match between Villarreal and Levante: the Yellow Submarine aims to consolidate its third position, while the red-blue Valencians, currently penultimate, are playing for their last hopes of salvation.

At 4 p.m.15, then, a great classic, that between Valencia and Atletico Madrid: a noble decadent, the home team arrives from a positive period that has allowed it to catch its breath in the less noble side of the standings, and faces the Colchoneros already certain of fourth place, who could rest some key elements ahead of the Champions League semifinal return match with Arsenal.

Basque derby at 6:30 p.m.: Alaves, the footballing expression of the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz, takes on Athletic Bilbao in a crucial match especially for the hosts, who are looking for important points to break away from the relegation zone (after thirty-three days they are in fact +2 ahead of third-last-seeded Sevilla). The red-and-whites, on the other hand, want to avoid a defeat that could suck them into the danger zone.

The last match on Saturday is played in Navarra, between Osasuna and Barcelona: at 9 p.m. the kickoff of the challenge between the Rojillos, who still cultivate European ambitions, and the Blaugrana, who instead could already be celebrating at the end of the weekend the victory of the championship, provided they win today’s game and Real Madrid does not score on Sunday precisely in Barcelona, at home to Espanyol.
