Unbelievable brawl in Serbia, fistfight, six expelled: watch video

Unbelievable brawl in Serbia during Zlatibor-Red Star. Chaos broke out when Nikola Kalinic stopped Matej Cibej during an action: the two fell on top of each other and all hell broke loose. The red and white player punched the opponent, who had, however, first attempted to hit him, effectively triggering the whole clash. The detail later emerged thanks to a video of the episode from another angle, directly from the parquet. From a match that perhaps could have earned the title of “classic” of the Serbian Superleague, we instead got an unforgettable situation, but unfortunately in a negative sense. Nikola Kalinic and Matej Cibej clashed in the middle of the third quarter. The situation was rather bizarre in itself. The Serbian player stopped the Slovenian with a stoppage and then ended up falling on him, while Cibej “blocked” his legs; at that point something happened that resembled wrestling more than basketball.

After reviewing the footage, the referee’s trio ejected a total of six players, three from each team. Zlatibor lost Cibej, Savic and Hanter-Whitfield, while Zvezda had to continue without Kalinic, Davidovac and Izundu. In addition, both benches received a technical foul. At the end, Kalinic also argued with the home fans as he entered the tunnel.
Kalinic, born in Subotica on Nov. 8, 1991, at 202 cm and 105 kg, is an extremely versatile player, capable of making an impact on both sides of the field thanks to his aggressive defense and great pliability.

During his career he wore the Red Star jersey several times, becoming one of its leaders, and experienced important years at Fenerbahce, where he established himself as a key element. He has also played in Spain with Valencia and Barcelona, confirming himself at the European level.
Long a point of reference for the Serbian national team as well, Kalinic is not only a scorer, but a complete player, known for his fighting spirit and ability to do whatever the team needs in decisive moments.
