Shameful homophobic attacks on Jannik Sinner

While most tennis fans are preparing to enthusiastically experience the Internazionali d’Italia, one of the top sporting events scheduled in Rome during the year, someone is having fun in another, decidedly less intelligent way. Indeed, a number of stickers have appeared in the capital bearing shameful homophobic attacks on Jannik Sinner, right on the eve of the tennis tournament.
To denounce it publicly, through the social platform X, was the journalist Andrea Prandi, who in distancing himself from such an uncivilized gesture accompanied his post with bitter words: “Sometimes I am ashamed to live in this wonderful city,” he wrote, leaving on his profile the testimony of these serious and unjustifiable attacks, marked by unrepeatable homophobic expressions, against the outfielder from Sesto Pusteria. Numerous comments underneath the post from fans and insiders, who equally expressed support for Sinner, asking the perpetrators of the despicable gesture to take a step back.
What was reported by the La7 reporter taints the festive atmosphere surrounding Sinner’s arrival at the Foro Italico, where the world number one presents himself as the absolute ruler of the circuit. In fact, the South Tyrolean has won the last five consecutive Masters 1000s (Paris 2025, Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, and Madrid in 2026) a streak never achieved by anyone before him in the history of tennis. His supremacy is also evidenced by his ATP ranking, where he leads with 14,350 points, on the strength of a 1,390-length advantage over Carlos Alcaraz.
This is not the first time, moreover, that Sinner has found himself the target of gratuitous attacks, something that happens especially in the labyrinth of the Internet. The world number one, however, has always chosen not to fuel controversy, letting work and results speak for him. On the court he responds with the continuity and hunger that have taken him to the top of world tennis, off the court with the politeness and respect that have distinguished him since his early days, never descending to the level of haters.
