Dinamo Sassari, all the scenarios for possible return to Serie A

After the relegation on the field that came after sixteen straight seasons in the top series, Dinamo Sassari is looking carefully at possible developments related to the next composition of basketball’s Serie A: the championship could be enlarged or some places could be freed up due to the difficulties of other clubs. In this scenario, Sassari would be among the main candidates for a possible repechage.
The most persistent rumors reported today by the Unione Sarda concern the situations of Cremona and Trieste, both grappling with corporate uncertainties. Rome would be ready to take over one of the two realities, while the other slot could be assigned precisely to Dinamo, following a criterion already adopted in the past by the federation in similar cases. In this sense, the Federal Council on May 13, after the end of the regular season, is anxiously awaited.
The longer-term alternative, again according to the island newspaper, concerns a possible 20-team Serie A from 2027/2028. By then, the Sardinian club could also have new ownership (there is talk of a group of non-Italian entrepreneurs) as well as an expanded PalaSerradimigni to 6,000 seats.
At the moment there are no official communications, but optimism seeps from Sassari. General manager Jack Devecchi has assured that the club is working “for the good of the club and the team,” suggesting that all options remain open. There is, however, great bitterness over a season that ended with relegation to A2 after years full of success, including a Scudetto, two Italian Cups, two Super Cups and a FIBA Europe Cup.
