We are still mel 2026, but the 2027 MotoGP season is already taking shape thanks to early testing. From next year, in addition to the revolution of the grid, there will also be a huge change from a technical point of view with 850cc bikes on which riders will have to rely more on talent and their riding style and less on electronics. As reported by auto.everyeye, testing took place this week at Mugello, where Ducati continued the development of the new bike that will debut from next year due to the new regulations. Michele Pirro and Nicolò Bulega took to the track, mainly engaged in collecting data and gaining confidence with the new bike.

The best time of the day was obtained by Bulega, who lapped in 1’47″2 after about twenty laps. Pirro, on the other hand, finished with a time of 1’47″6. The new 850ccs are still far from the performance of current MotoGP bikes: suffice it to say that the Mugello 2025 pole signed by Marc Marquez had been 1’44″169. Even Loris Capirossi had explained that the 2027 bikes would be slower. Also present in the tests were KTM (with Dani Pedrosa and Jonas Folger) and Honda.

Ducati top management was satisfied with this test of the ‘future,’ starting with Gigi Dall’Igna: “Very promising in the first impressions.” Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali was also optimistic, but remains down-to-earth without loading himself with too many expectations: “First impressions are in line with our expectations it is too early to talk about pure performance. But the platform is solid and in this kind of project, this is the most important point at the beginning.”
