Cagliari swoops in on the most talked about goalkeeper of the moment

The interest of a number of top clubs in Elia Caprile is forcing Cagliari to look around for a possible replacement for the former Napoli man, and the island club is already at work. Several names have been evaluated in recent weeks and recently Tommaso Giulini added Arijanet Murić to the list.
The Sassuolo goalkeeper, on loan from Ipsiwch Town, has turned the spotlight on himself in recent days after an interview granted to Gianluca Di Marzio in which he said, “I do not intend to play for Sassuolo next season. With the end of the loan, my time here also ends. I have informed the club that I do not want to stay here after this season for personal reasons.”
A 1998 class, Murić has been churning out excellent performances this year with the neroverde shirt but evidently something has gone wrong and he wants a change of scenery. Given this year’s performance and the Kosovar defender’s excellent potential, Cagliari considers him a viable alternative to Elia Caprile.
Arijanet Murić grew up in Switzerland in the ranks of Zurich and later moved to Manchester City. After his experience in the Netherlands with NAC Breda, he returned to England to play with Nottingham Forest and then flew to Spain to Girona.
After a brief spell at Willem II he played for Adana Demirspor, then in 2022 moved to Burnley and later to Ipswich Town, which last summer sold him on loan with the right of redemption to Sassuolo.
