Italy’s repechage to the World Cup, from'Iran comes a scathing attack

On Wednesday evening, the Iranian football federation held an event in Enqelab Square in Tehran to bid farewell to the national team ahead of their departure for the World Cup, which will take place between the United States, Mexico and Canada starting in mid-June.
Subsequently, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian met with the team and was updated on the schedule of the team, which, having completed its final training sessions, will fly to the United States probably on a charter flight. Pezeshkian then gave a big motivational speech to Mehdi Taremi and teammates, “What will really matter will be sincere commitment, a sense of responsibility, and the use of all available energy to honor Iran. The results will be the fruit of will, preparation, work and, of course, divine will. But what the Iranian people expect from you is to see a team that fights with dignity and gives everything on the field.”
The president of the Islamic Republic of Iran then sent a very strong message, “Our desire is for a strong, peaceful and united Iran where everyone can live together with dignity. Iran’s enemies fear precisely this unity and have always tried to hinder the country’s progress by creating divisions, distrust and internal conflicts,” Iran’s Ettelaat newspaper reported. “Striking scientists, research centers, influential figures or symbols of social hope is part of an ongoing project aimed at weakening Iran’s national power. Those who openly violate human principles and international rules today present themselves as defenders of human rights.”
Although the Iranian football federation has already determined the next steps to reach the United States and despite the reassurances of FIFA President Gianni Infantino, according to many, Iran’s participation in the upcoming World Cup is still not 100 percent certain: much will depend on how relations between Washington and Tehran develop in the coming weeks regarding the current geopolitical situation.
