Alex Marquez, scary crash: Catalunya GP suspended

Frightening incident in the Catalan GP. Halfway through the race, Pedro Acosta suddenly slowed down, probably due to a technical problem with the bike. Alex Marquez, who was following him at a very short distance, tried at the last moment to avoid him without succeeding, however: contact was inevitable and the Spanish rider ended up violently on the ground.

In the fall, his Ducati began to spin several times in the air in an impressive scene. Shortly afterwards Fabio Di Giannantonio also fell, having arrived at the scene of the accident and ended up against some debris strewn on the asphalt.

Great apprehension in the minutes following the impact. Alex Marquez, the protagonist of one of the most frightening accidents in recent years, remained conscious after the fall, reassuring at least in part teams and fans.

According to initial hypotheses, the origin of the chaos could have been the explosion of the rear tire of Acosta’s bike. The episode froze the audience in the stands, which remained silent before the drama of the scene.
