Joan Mir punished, Pecco Bagnaia on podium: commissioners explain

At the abundantly concluded Catalan GP came a real blow for Joan Mir, who initially finished second in the MotoGp race behind Fabio Di Giannantonio. The Honda rider was in fact punished by the race commissioners with a 16-second penalty, as required by the regulations, thus climbing to 13th position.

The race commissioners promptly explained the reasons that led to the penalty for the 2020 world champion: the tire pressure was lower than that required by the regulations, an aspect that could have brought an unfair technical advantage, as well as being dangerous due to the stress to which the tire is subjected.

In addition to Mir, Raul Fernandez, Alex Rins, Jack Miller and Toprak Razgatlioglu were also penalized for the same reason. Below is the new race ranking:
