Federico Dimarco has won the Best Overall Footballer of Serie A 2025-2026 award: the Inter side, born in 1997, is the third Nerazzurri to win the award, introduced in the 2018-2019 season (the others being Romelu Lukaku in 2020-2021 and Lautaro Martinez in 2023-2024) and, what’s more, he is the first Italian to put the trophy in his trophy cabinet, which since its introduction had seen only foreign footballers awarded in the absolute MVP category, the last of whom was Scott McTominay of Napoli last year.

“A representative of a role characterized by intensity and running, Dimarco has excelled in technical qualities, with his exceptional left back capable of netting 6 goals and an impressive 18 assists, an absolute record in a season of the top Italian league,” commented Luigi De Siervo, CEO of Lega Serie A, in the statement in which the body representing the clubs of the top division announced the awarding of the prize.

Dimarco is not the only Inter player to smile: his coach, Cristian Chivu, in fact won the best coach award while Lautaro Martinez won the best striker award, both for the first time. The other awards went to Kenan Yildiz of Juventus (best Under 23), Mile Svilar of Roma (best goalkeeper), Marco Palestra of Cagliari (best defender) and Nico Paz of Como (best midfielder).

This year’s is the eighth season in which individual awards have been given out by Lega Serie A: Dimarco is the latest in a list opened by Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus, 2018-2019) and continued with Paulo Dybala (Juventus, 2019-2020), Romelu Lukaku (Inter Milan, 2020-2021), Rafael Leao (AC Milan, 2021-2022), Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (Napoli, 2022-2023), Lautaro Martinez (Inter Milan, 2023-2024) and Scott McTominay (2024-2025).
