Antonio Conte says goodbye to Napoli with a victory signed by Hojlund

Antonio Conte’s two-year spell at Napoli ends with a victory in front of his own public, greeted by the Maradona with a long standing ovation. The partenopei overcame Udinese 1-0 on the 38th and final day of Serie A, ending the championship in second place with 76 points.
The match ignited immediately: Alisson Santos started strongly and after less than two minutes committed Okoye with a decisive save. In the 10th minute, however, he is forced out due to injury after a shot, stopped by a muscle problem. Shortly afterwards it is Meret who fends off Karlström’s attempt, before the decisive goal signed by Højlund in the 24th minute: the Dane attacks the depth and finalizes De Bruyne’s assist for the blue’s 1-0.
The first half becomes even more complicated for Napoli with Lobotka’s injury in the 37th minute, in a season marked by numerous physical stops. In the second half, Udinese were left with 10 men in the 65th minute when Kabasele was sent off after VAR review for violent conduct. Despite the numerical superiority, the Azzurri did not close the game: in fact, McTominay wasted a great chance to double after a beautiful play by Højlund.
It ended 1-0: thus ended Conte’s experience on the Napoli bench, with a Scudetto and an Italian Super Cup won in the two years of management. Runjaic’s Udinese, despite the defeat, still ends an excellent championship in ninth place with 50 points.
