Fear for Torino-Juventus: one fan injured, ultras in protest but match confirmed

High tension in Turin ahead of Torino-Juventus, with serious unrest near the Stadio Grande Torino, especially in the area adjacent to the guest sector designated for Juventus fans.
Reportedly, more radical ultras groups came into contact in that very area, with dense throwing of bottles and stones even at police forces. Police intervened using tear gas in an attempt to restore calm, while several fans, belonging to both factions, were reportedly detained.
About an hour before kickoff, Juventus ultras were blocked off in the anti-stadium area and chose not to enter the stands in protest against law enforcement, after an incident in which a tear gas allegedly hit an Juventus fan in the head. The man, 45, was transported to the hospital in code red for head trauma, first to the Mauriziano and then to the CTO. His condition would not be considered life-threatening, while investigations continue to clarify the dynamics of the impact.
In the guest sector, some fans who entered without flags allegedly asked to speak with the team, even urging that the match not be played. Some representatives of the organized fans then confronted the situation directly with captain Manuel Manuel Locatelli.
Damien Damien Comolli also spoke on the incident: “We are very concerned and saddened by what happened outside the stadium. There is one of our fans in the hospital in bad condition, in code red. The other ultras are not happy with what happened and have asked us not to take the field. The game will be played and I will visit the injured fan in the hospital afterwards.”
